Here’s what the Tri-City Basketball Officials Camp can offer you, so that you can become the official you want to be:
The staff of the Tri-City Camp is an outstanding group of officials whose sole purpose is to give you the best instruction available anywhere. Each staff member has worked the MHSAA State Championship Finals and is currently working at the collegiate level. Some staff members are assignors for high school conferences.
The camp is run in conjunction with the CMU’s Boys’ High School Basketball Team Camp.
We offer “on-court” instruction that includes; court coverage, signals, and proper mechanics. We review rule changes, discuss politics of officiating, player/coach relationships, rule interpretations, and 2 and 3 person mechanics. There are 5 courts used for officiating games. You will officiate games played by high school varsity basketball teams from around the state of Michigan. As you officiate, you will be observed and critiqued. A staff member is present at each court to provide immediate feedback on the things you do well and things on which you need to work.
The camp has enjoyed tremendous success and has been able to help so many officials. We encourage all levels of officials to attend as we group you according to your experience and level of ability. Many officials are just beginning their careers and want to learn how to officiate the right way. Some officials have experience and want to learn the little things that can elevate their careers even further.
Our staff members will strive to ensure that all officials who participate in the Tri-City Basketball Officials Camp will leave with many things that will help them improve their officiating and further their careers.
